Why Consultations Are a Must for Portrait Photography

One of my favorite parts of portrait photography is getting to meet so many amazing people. I love connecting with my clients over their senior photos, family photos, and professional headshots! My clients have unique stories to tell and it’s my passion to capture that during their portrait photography sessions.  That’s why, once you book your session, you’ll also need to schedule a time for a consultation. When it comes to creating the best portrait photography session possible, it’s essential to fully discuss what you’re looking for. Being on the same page is the best way to get the best photos.  Here are my top reasons as to why consultations are a must for a Colorado Springs portrait photography session. Let’s Talk Vision    Before you book your portrait photography session, I guarantee you’ve thought about the vision you have for these photos. During our consultation, we’ll discuss what ideas you have in mind and how we can make them a reality.  Consultations typically take place about 5-14 days before your booked date. That way we can fully prepare for your session. Consultations typically last about an hour and can be done in person or over the phone. If you’re looking […]

6 Secrets to Getting the Best Family Photos

Family portraits are great for holiday cards, gifts, and most importantly, capturing memories. However, preparing your family for a photoshoot can be a daunting task. I’ve put together six secrets to getting the best family photos to help you make it an enjoyable and stress-free experience! 1. Come Relaxed This may sound easier said than done. However, the more relaxed you and your family are going into your photoshoot, the happier and more relaxed you’ll appear in your photos. To avoid unnecessary stress, plan your outfits the week beforehand. Have everyone try on their outfit at least once to make sure it fits and it’s comfortable. Then, lay out the outfits and any accessories (and shoes) the night before so they’re ready to go the day of your session. Next, consider how much time each family member will need to get ready the day of the shoot and build in a buffer to ensure you can avoid rushing out the door. Before you leave, plan for everyone to get a good meal. A relaxed and well-fed family makes for the best family photos! 2. Coordinate Your Clothes I understand how challenging finding the right clothes for your family portrait can […]

Senior Photos Checklist: How to Prepare Your Senior For Their Photo Shoot

For many high school seniors, getting their senior photos taken is an exciting time. These treasured photos will be used in their senior yearbook and given to friends, family, and teachers as they move on from their high school years into the next stages of life.  Getting ready for senior pictures can be a little stressful for both the teen and parent.  Between planning what to wear and what to bring, it’s understandable! That’s why I put together this senior photos checklist to ensure seniors and their families arrive at their session prepared and confident for a great experience, and of course, to walk away with beautiful photos. #1. Bring Water and a Snack My first piece of advice is to bring water and some snacks. It may not seem like tough work, but posing, wardrobe changes, weather, and even moving around the photoshoot location can wear on seniors during their session.   Not only is water refreshing, but it’s also great for your skin and keeps seniors comfortable during their photoshoots. As for snacks, I recommend eating well beforehand to last you through the entirety of the photoshoot. If you’re in a rush, please bring a snack to get you […]

4 Reasons High School Senior Portraits are Important

There are 4 reasons why High School Senior Portraits are important. Of course, there are more, but here are the most common reasons customers value senior portraits. #1-This time marks the end of their childhood…adult, WHAT?? I know it. We don’t want to let go and often times find ourselves in denial. It’s true. We need to let go and let them flourish and become the person they are intended to be. It’s time for them to explore, find themselves, discover new passions, and become an adult. With that, let’s capture who they are today and be proud of how far they have come. Let’s take time to reflect on their growth, challenges, and memories. #2-Graduation Requirements-Let us ease the load! All high schools require a yearbook picture. Each school has specific requirements in terms of what is accepted, proper file sizes, submission, etc. Don’t worry, we take care of all of this for you! One less thing for you to deal with. Don’t forget announcements! The school often provides announcements for you to purchase. They’re very generic, but they do include the graduation details to send out to family and friends. We’d rather provide you with announcements that are […]
